Tips for Kids is a special program of Roof Sit. Volunteer groups or business teams pump gas and wash windows for tips at 9 area Shell gas stations and 2 Bob and Kay Stations during the Roof Sit event – June 25-27, 2009 volunteer group is scheduled for a two hour shift or more. The tips are collected, counted and then taken to the Roof Sit headquarters at Helzberg Diamonds and Hairmasters Plus on Westnedge Avenue in Portage. 103.3 KFR will promote the volunteer group's organization or business throughout their shift and at the time that the donation is brought to the Roof Sit site. Volunteering organizations will also be mentioned on our website.

How it works:

  • A volunteer group chooses a Shell station or Bob & Kays and time slot. Groups are encouraged to challenge other groups: raising the stakes, as well as recruiting additional groups to participate.

  • Volunteers need only arrive equipped with a friendly smile and motivation – we will provide a Roof Sit volunteer T-Shirt, an apron to collect the tips in and a donation card to hand to people who donate.

  • Volunteers will greet the customer and explain that they are volunteering for Tips for Kids, a program to raise money to support programs at The Community Healing Centers (formerly the Guidance Clinic) that treat and prevent child abuse and neglect.

  • Volunteers collect general donations, pump gas, wash windows and hopefully receive a tip for their efforts. All money is placed in the money apron. Donation cards are provided for those customers giving $5.00 or more.

  • At the end of shift all money collected by the group is brought to the Roof Sit site and counted and acknowledged on 103.3 KFR by the disc jockeys on the air.

  • 103.3 KFR will promote the volunteer groups organization or business throughout the shift to help draw business to the station and to let listeners know about donating to Roof Sit.
